I came of age in the '70s, so it's no surprise that I indulged in an occasional puff. But frankly, I liked the rebellion more than the effects, so my first cannabis chapter closed before it truly opened.
When I moved to Amsterdam after college, I was awestruck with everything Dutch, and yes, that included what I think of as Cannabis: Chapter Two. There, hash, as they call it, was both mythic and institutionalized. "Coffee shops” dotted the city, with menus to suit any desired mood. Read more »The Upper East Side has evolved quite a lot since Andrew and Matthew first started their careers in Manhattan back in the late Eighties, but its majestic Park and Fifth Avenues remain iconic and you can’t beat Madison Avenue for its luxury boutiques. That said, with Central Park on one side and the East River on the other, this neighborhood is great for exploring by foot. During that walk, dip inside some of these favorite spots of ours.
